Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth, typically made
out of an acrylic resin which may at times incorporate porcelain or
metal for additional structural support. There are two main types of
dentures, complete and partial. Both the complete and partial dentures
are finely crafted and custom-fitted to the patient. If you properly
maintain your dentures, they will appear natural and provide a perfect
smile. Additionally, dentures help to strengthen the muscles
controlling your expressions that require the support of your teeth,
they rid you of pronunciation problems caused by missing teeth, and
they aid with chewing food.
Dentures are a set of replacement teeth for any teeth that are
missing. There are partial dentures, which take the place of only a
few teeth and prevent the others from changing position. If all the
teeth are gone, the person would need complete dentures, which replace
every tooth in the mouth.
Dentures come in all shapes and sizes including complete and partial
dentures. Complete dentures are indicated when all the teeth are
missing, while partial dentures replace certain missing teeth. The
dentist begins by removing any teeth that are not restorable. An
impression (mold) is then taken of the gums space and remaining teeth,
which is sent to the laboratory. The laboratory will then use this
impression as well as other directions by the dentist to fabricate
customized partial or complete dentures.
Dentures are made to replace all (COMPLETE DENTURES) or some
(REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURES) missing or unrestorable teeth. They are
necessary when most of the remaining teeth can not be saved, or the
patient does not wish or can not go through treatment needed to
restore the teeth. Many patients with complete dentures made years ago
can benefit from new dentures.
Dentures are made of acrylic resin and are used as removeable
replacements for missing teeth. There are two kinds of dentures:
complete dentures and partial dentures. Both are custom fitted and, if
cared for properly, will appear natural. Dentures can ... help
strengthen facial muscles and aid in chewing. If you are losing some
or all of your teeth, dentures could be the solution.
Dentures are usually fabricated from acrylic materials but may
occasionally incorporate the use of other materials. There are ...
several types of dentures that can be fabricated to fit over implant
fixtures. (See Implant Dentistry). A custom-made, properly fit denture
or partial denture can be completely inconspicuous and
natural-looking, and should be comfortable for chewing, as well as
allowing for normal speech.
